SAL NO SANGUE
Sinopse
SALT IN THE BLOOD
This film was made during the pandemic when we were starting to film TROINO (film currently being filmed and scheduled for release in 2023).
During this period, all doors closed due to fear of the pandemic. In the TROINO research phase and with this barrier, we directed the work to the fishermen's closets in Setubal, a place very similar to a mini neighborhood, where people, mostly fishermen, continued to go.
The short film “SAL NO BLOOD” reveals a physical structure: Fishermen's closets - Structure where fishermen store their material, but which is also a meeting point for the community. Just like a neighborhood or a city, this place has its specific dynamics.
Most of these fishermen practice a relatively sustainable type of fishing. We are not talking about fishermen who catch tons of fish daily. Due to the low profitability of this semi-artisanal fishing, without economies of scale, some end up having a second job. Fishing is a work activity that people connect to mainly out of passion. A way of life, a call to the “life of the sea, of the “Borda d’Água”, which creates deep relationships with the identity of a people, a city, a neighborhood.
